Top Ten Books I’m not sure I want to read (by which I mean these aren’t even really on my TBR list so you have to work really hard to convince me to change my mind):
(While you’re here, help me celebrate my blog birthday by reading my birthday post–after noon–and entering my birthday giveaway!)
- A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin: I’ve heard they’re incredibly violent and incredibly not diverse. Add to that the series is really long in terms of books and pages and I can call it a pass.
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon: This sounds great in theory but again I’m resistant on a fundamental level to enormous page counts and series that extend beyond 5 books.
- Maze Runner by James Dashner: Do I need this in my life?
- The Waking Dark by Robin Wasserman: I love Robin Wasserman but I heard this was super scary so I am worried!
- Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid: I’ve heard mixed things! What are your thoughts?
That’s actually it because anything else I’ve elected to skip I feel pretty strongly about and anything else I have in the TBR pile I’m pretty committed to.

Awww I’m sad to see A Song of Fire and Ice and The Maze Runner on here :( but it’s cool. I could see where you’re coming from with ASoFaF- I’ve heard the same thing with several bloggers…

Whew, I thought it was just me. I always feel like that as an adult and a librarian, I should be pro books that are longer than 250 pages but sometimes I like it short and sweet so I can get on to my next literary adventure. 800 pages? I’m not even that invovled in my children’s lives! (Okay, I’m kidding just a little bit there.)

I have the first two books in the Song of Ice and Fire series, but I’m in the same place. They’re just long, and I’m not sure I want to commit to that. Same goes for Outlander, actually!
Eh, I say pass on Maze Runner. I only read it for the movie, and I’m only watching the movie for Dylan O’Brien. Because sexy boys deserve viewing despite crappy plot lines.
Well, I DNFed Let’s Get Lost. So there’s that :P I know a lot of people have enjoyed it though, so I think it’s up to you!

I’m with you on the Game of Thrones books. The violence and horror turn me off completely.

Glad I’m not alone on that!

I read the Maze Runner and wasn’t all that impressed with it really. I’ll probably watch the movie, but not until it’s out on dvd.
