I’ve been slowly getting over my cold and nursing Mom who caught my cold. It was a really long week but I made it so there is that.
This week I read and loved The Vanishing Season by Jodi Lynn Anderson. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump but gosh that book is great! Go read it right now! (If we are goodreads friends I may already have recommended it to you. Excuse me now while I go sob for a bit.)
I also got a nice compliment at work from one of the clerical part-timers named Judith. She came in the other night and said I always have very cute dresses. Since I’ve been trying to dress better (and wear more dresses and skirts as a matter of fact!) that was a nice thing to hear. (I got a few very reasonably priced and lovely dresses from Zulilly. They are great.)
I’m also slowly assembling lots of cute things for my Summer Box Swap recipient and sending things out to my cousin for her birthday.
Since August marks the start of my blog I’ve also been looking back on the past year and I am very grateful and humbled by how much my circumstances have changed in just a year. There are, of course, some things that I would change and some things that I wish hadn’t happened (my mom’s brain surgery and losing both my aunt and my great aunt being the obvious ones of course). But I am so, so glad to be in a better place now, with better people in my life (including some new blogger friends and work friends), and better things happening. I hope you all are doing better too.
And let’s all work on not being sick the rest of the summer now!
