  1. Loop by Karen Akins
  2. The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker
  3. Dove Arising by Karen Bao
  4. Snow Like Ashes by Sara Raasch
  5. The Weight of Stars by Tessa Gratton
  6. I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
  7. Hold me Like a Breath by Tiffany Schmidt
  8. Becoming Jinn by Lori Goldstein
  9. The Chapel Wars by Lindsay Leavitt
  10. The Unnaturalists by Tiffany Trent

My committee work is probably going to amp up this month so I’m sadly not sure how many of these I’ll get to but this is the plan.

What’s on your spring to read pile?

Top Ten Tuesday: Ten Contemporary Books I Want to Read

Top Ten Tuesdays img by Miss Print

Ten contemporary books I want to read (and will maybe read for Kayla and Veronica’s Contemporary Conversations?)

  1. The Lucy Variations by Sara Zarr
  2. Even in Paradise by Chelsea Philpot
  3. I’ll Give You the Sun by Jandy Nelson
  4. Falling Into Place by Amy Zhang
  5. Honey, Baby, Sweetheart by Deb Caletti
  6. She is Not Invisible by Marcus Sedgwick
  7. Racing Savannah by Miranda Kenneally
  8. I Am Princess X by Cherie Priest
  9. The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver
  10. The Summer of Firsts and Lasts by Terra Elan McVoy

With the exception of The Secrets We Keep, all of these books are published and in my possession (The Secrets We Keep is unpublished and in my possession) but I had to really comb through my TBR list to find them. This list also made it abundantly clear that I really do read fantasy first and foremost.

Top Ten Tuesday: 2015 Resolutions

Top Ten Tuesdays img by Miss Print

2015 Resolutions!

(While you’re here, I’m also giving away some arcs to other reviewers/bloggers!)

  1. Read 150 books (up from 125 last year)
  2. Try to put a dent in my “put up or shut up” shelf and maybe be a little more proactive with books to read in general.
  3. Another round of purging my owns books at home.
  4. Keep up the blogging regularly. I can really see the growth I’ve had as a blogger over the last year and I want to keep that going in 2015.
  5. I want to be aware of the things that are in my control and do my best to make those things work well.
  6. I want to be able to let go of the things that are out of my control.
  7. I want to continue being a little kinder than I have to be.
  8. Creative writing!
  9. Querying!
  10. This last one isn’t a resolution but I’d like for 2015 to be a year of happiness and good health for me and mine (and for you and yours!).

Top Ten Tuesday: Books I’m Looking Forward To In 2015

Top Ten Tuesdays img by Miss Print

There are a lot of great books coming in 2015 (be shocked) here are some I am excited for:

  1. The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick: I was lucky enough to read an advanced copy but I am so, so excited for others to get to read this one so that we can talk about it!
  2. Dearest by Alethea Kontis: My TBR list has been slammed with other things so embarrassingly I haven’t had a chance to read this even though I’ve had an ARC since June. But I am so excited for it!
  3. The Case of the Missing Moonstone by Jordan Stafford and Kelly Murphy: A middle grade book featuring Ada Lovelace and Mary Shelley? With artwork by one of my favorite illustrators? I mean, come on. Where has this book been all my life?
  4. The Walls Around Us by Nova Ren Suma: I love Nova as an author and personality and I love recommending her books. But I’m not always sure they are “Emma books.” I’ve heard great things about this one so I’m hoping it’s the one that I love unequivocally.
  5. This Shattered World by Amie Kaufman and Meagan Spooner: After finishing These Broken Stars, I’m pretty pumped for this one!
  6. Shutter by Courtney Alameda: This one is either going to be awesome or give me nightmares. Or both. But I love books that remix familiar characters in new ways.
  7. Finding Mr. Brightside by Jay Clark: I don’t know a ton about this one but it sounds like a cute story with some depth and I’m excited to try it.
  8. Seeker by Arwen Elys Dayton: The blurb on this one is so vague that I’m excited to read it just to figure out what it’s really about.
  9. The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord: I’ve been thinking about Open Road Summer a lot recently so I’m pretty happy about the prospect of getting a new Lord book.
  10. The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski: I am so, so lucky that I got to read this early. I loved it and I’m pretty excited about getting a hardcover copy for myself once it’s out.

TBR lists are my favorite Top Ten Tuesday posts so of course I had to make one! To see what else I’ve been reading you can also check out my November Reading Tracker.

  1. Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman: I have a copy well ahead of the release, there is no reason for me to NOT read it.
  2. In the Shadow of Blackbirds by Cat Winters: must read ASAP for reasons
  3. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon: This one is calling to me.
  4. How to Lead a Life of Crime by Kiersten White: must read ASAP for reasons
  5. Flirty Dancing by Jenny McLachlan: Cute read from the publisher
  6. The Start of Me and You by Emery Lord:
  7. All the Truth That’s in Me by Julie Berry: must read ASAP for reasons
  8. The Ghosts of Heaven by Marcus Sedgwick: I want more inter-connected stories from Sedgwick after being dazzled by Midwinterblood!
  9. A Crack in the Line by Michael Lawrence: This is part of my “put up or shut up” reading challenge where I’m trying to read books that have been on my TBR  for 4+ years.
  10. Honey, Baby, Sweetheart by Deb Caletti: This is part of my “put up or shut up” reading challenge where I’m trying to read books that have been on my TBR  for 4+ years.

Top Ten Tuesday: Sequels I’m Excited About

Top Ten Tuesdays img by Miss Print

At first I wasn’t sure I had enough books to talk about in this post. Then I started looking at my TBR shelves and realized that was wildly inaccurate. SO here are some sequels I’m psyched about.

  1. Shadow Scale by Rachel Hartman: I am spoiled rotten and have this in my hands (signed) even though it’s not out until March.
  2. The Winner’s Crime by Marie Rutkoski: Again because I am spoiled rotten, I have read this already. But I am excited for March when I can get a hard copy to match my beautiful copy of The Winner’s Curse.
  3. Untold by Sarah Rees Brennan: This one has been out for a while but I managed to fall behind with the series. Now that Unmade is out and I own both, I really have no excuse to put off finishing the series!
  4. P. S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han: Is there anyone who isn’t excited about this one? I can’t wait to see what happens to Lara Jean next! Luckily I have Jenny Han’s Summer trilogy in the interim since it’s a series I missed when it first came out!
  5. Linger by Maggie Stiefvater: File under books I should have read 5 years ago.
  6. Black Heart by Holly Black: See above.
  7. Cybele’s Secret by Juliet Marillier: See number five.
  8. Split Second by Kasie West: There’s real no reason for me to not have read it yet. I guess I’m just worried it won’t live up to the first book.
  9. Dearest by Alethea Kontis: I love the Woodcutter books so this is one 2015 release I’m pretty excited about!
  10. Vengeance by Megan Miranda: Like Split Second, I’ve put this book off because I have concerns. And I don’t want Decker and Delaney’s story to be over.
