Do you ever have a day where you’re just in a bad mood? That was me for a couple of days this week. Partly it’s carryover from tax prep (because of course it is) and partly I’m migrating to gmail for all of my accounts (including my blog one so be sure to update accordingly!) which is just the most annoying thing ever.
How is your tax prep going? Have you ever had to switch emails?
I’m feeling very enthusiastic about my blog and instagram stuff but I also feel like my efforts aren’t having much payoff. That isn’t entirely true. My blog traffic is higher than it’s ever been and I’m loving my photos. But I also feel like I’ve been playing the blog game for 10+ years and it’s like I still spend a lot of time talking to myself or into the void while newer, shinier blogs seem to instantly be more successful and popular. I know that’s probably only 30% of the story and I can’t see behind the scenes but it’s hard to avoid those feelings.
With Instagram it’s like the minute I figure out some of the rules, they all change. And it’s so cliquey sometimes that no one even wants to talk about it or admit that this is an issue. I also hate the new/shiny/buy everything culture surrounding bookstagram and reps and all that. I am trying to remain aware of it being a problem for me/in general while still enjoying participating in small ways.
How do you feel about #bookstagram?
So anyway I was really frustrated about all things social media this week, obviously. I’m trying to let it go and remind myself that I am in this because I love it–everything else is extra and probably not worth my attention. I just need to stay in my own lane.
What do you do when everything starts to feel frustrating?
Here are two of my favorite posts I shared on Instagram this week:
