This week I only had to work three days–one of my which I spent at an all-day publisher’s preview event and half of another was spent at a fun training where I gave two presentation type things.
Because I’m an idiot, I managed to seriously pull a muscle in my left hand such that my thumb barely moves. It’s . . . not that great. I already have more range of motion from yesterday when it happened but my grip is still shot. For most right-handed people this would not be that big of a problem. Turns out I am actually very ambidextrous though so it’s been limiting. And annoying.
This week I read Uprooted and there is just no way around it: the book was a slog. I’m still trying to figure out why exactly but suffice to say a lot of things did NOT work for me. I just want to go and reread Howl’s Moving Castle now instead. I’m still so happy to have gotten it from my lovely Secret Sister but I’m sad I didn’t love it when I thought I would. Alas!
If you want to see how my month in reading is shaking out be sure to check out my October Reading Tracker.
How was your week?
Aw, I am SO sad that you didn’t like Uprooted! I am really excited to read it someday (I want the pretty UK copy hahha), but I guess even if I don’t like it either, it can look pretty on my shelf? Sorry about your hand too, that sounds awful. I would be lost if I hurt my dominant hand, so I don’t know how you are functioning- though my brother, also a leftie, broke his left arm and was also shockingly ambidextrous. Probably one of those “living in a right-handed world problems” that my mom and brother gripe about :D Either way, I hope you feel better soon, and that your next book is much better than Uprooted was for you!
I am actually right handed at least when I write. I think really I’m just ambidextrous. It’s feeling a lot better today but not 100% yet. Thanks <3 I still need to process a lot of my feelings about Uprooted.
You’re a leftie?? THIS PLEASES ME. I am as well :D Although that really sucks that it’s out of commission – I hurt my left thumb a year ago and I still get pains from it, and I know how much it can affect everyday things D:
I write with my right hand but I think I’m just ambidextrous because I do a lot of gripping with my left hand (OR I DID) and in a pinch I can write with my left hand too.
