This week on the blog you can check out:
- A Long, Long Sleep: A Review
- Scarlet: A Chick Lit Wednesday Review
- So I still have a Crochet Club (Library Life)
- Magonia: A (Rapid Fire) Review
I can also finally tell you that I got to review The Scorpion Rules by Erin Bow for School Library Journal and it got a star! You can read my review on their site.
This week was basically ridiculous. The living room air conditioner broke last Friday. I had to stay home on Monday waiting for the repairman to condemn it (he says it had a freon leak). Then we had to wait until Thursday for the new one to be delivered and installed. So I had to miss another day of work. This was all, of course, during a heat wave.
Happily that’s all resolved now.
On Wednesday night a mangy pigeon also decided to come check out our terrace area. After he got too close Mom and I both tried to shoo it away. Great. Except when it tried to fly off it fell into one of our chairs. Freaking us out. Then it flew again and fell into the neighboring space.
It was still there on Thursday. It once again came too close to us. A neighbor’s dog tried to eat it and it was just basically a horrible ordeal all around until the building’s handyman very kindly dealt with it for us.
Life with air conditioning is wonderful. Very happy to have it back. It made it a lot easier to tidy and organize my bookshelves. I have been ruthless and now have two big bags of books to resell. My shelves are all reorganized too and I’m quite pleased.
There’s still work to do with my to read shelves (the others are owned/read) but it’s a process and it’s getting there.
Here they are in all their glory:
The top shelf in the first photo is partly my brag shelf which has multiple copies of books that quoted me :)
Reading wise, I don’t have a lot to share except I’m starting Lair of Dreams this week and I’m excited!
If you want to see how my month in reading is shaking out be sure to check out my August Reading Tracker.
How was your week?
Congrats on reviewing THE SCORPION RULES! I can’t wait to sit down with that one. Love your shelves! And… off to read your review of A LONG, LONG SLEEP (you know me and my fairy tale obsession…).

Haha, the bird incident sounds hilarious xD Also, I feel you there. The heat over here was absolutely UNBEARABLE. I think I’m a half melted human bean at this point, so I can see living without the AC must have been a horrific aspect to face. And congrats on all the books you finishes, ohmygod. Lovely post <3

It sounds like one heck of a week! First off – YAY to air conditioning. Considering how hot it gets, I don’t know if you guys would have fared well without one for much longer. Second – creepy pigeon is creepy! They always manage to freak me out, and your story makes me feel really wary of them now. Third – YAY for organizing shelves! I think they look great, and you should definitely work on your TBR ones too.

Thanks for the support! Glad to be back with AC and well rid of the pigeon. TBR shelves I feel like I could do more but I have to make a dent in my BEA titles first. Soon!
