Since debut authors are new to everyone I decided to limit myself to authors who had previously published titles who I was reading for the first time this year. There were a lot of pleasant surprises but, sadly, also a few disappointments. (Considering the amount I read I did not read a lot of “new to me” authors so I’m just going to go ahead and list them all.)
- Drama by Raina Telgemeier
- Unbreak My Heart by Melissa C. Walker
- Dust Girl by Sarah Zettel
- Code Name Verity by Elizabeth Wein
- Magisterium by Jeff Hirsch
- The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey
- Fathomless by Jackson Pearce
- Rift by Andrea Cremer
- The Silver Linings Playbook by Matthew Quick
- The Lost Sun by Tessa Gratton
- Starry Nights by Daisy Whitney
- The Beginning of Everything by Robyn Schneider
- Wither by Lauren DeStefano
- Tandem by Anna Jarzab
- The Caged Graves by Dianne K. Salerni
- More Than This by Patrick Ness
Shockingly that’s it for new (to me) authors who were no debuts. I always knew I read a lot of newer fiction but I’m surprised that this is it for established authors I hadn’t read previously.
